Steven King's Maximum OverdriveRealease Date: July 25th 1986Genre: Horror ISBN: 024543112037 Gratuitus Explosions, foul language, and a KICK ASS soundtrack by AC/DC make this an AWESOME movie. Earth passes through the tail of a rogue comet which fills the night sky with a green aurora. Unfortunately for the human beings on planet earth there is another side effect. All manner of machines have taken on a will of their own filled with blood lust and the distruction of mankind. The move shows the results of a small town dealing with this crisis and focuses on a small group of characters that find themselves trapped in a truck stop surrounded by blood thirsty big rigs. If you want a good piece of classic tongue-in-cheek horror full of cheesy dialogue and characters doing ridiculous things that will have you scratching your head 'why?' then this movie is for you. And yes, most of those ridiculous things result in an huge unjustified explosion. Enjoy! Memorable Tidbits: A drunk waitress runs out of the truckstop screaming "We made you, we made you!!!!" to the big rigs threatening to destroy them. The following morning, when sober (we assume), she does the same thing and gets gunned down by a military gun truck after much warning that it was out there. WTF? |
